The power cords for your computer, monitor, printer and other devices are plugged into a surge protector (or should be!). Power surges through your phone line are also a major cause of damage.Do not neglect to run your phone line through the surge protector to protect your modem.

Keep track of email pictures & attachments Have you saved a picture someone emailed you, and don't know where it went? When you save a picture, or any attachment, always save to the same folder e.g. My Documents. When you save, make sure the folder where you want the attachment saved appears in the "Save in:" field.

Update your anti-virus program weekly Approximately 30 new viruses come out every week, and failing to update your anti-virus program will not protect you against these new viruses. Use the update feature of your anti-virus program weekly to help keep your computer protected against new viruses.
